Tibby's page

We only ever had one cat, She came and before Kerry and almost outlived them all. I got her from the RSPCA in 1961, an ordinary badger marked little girl. She had one litter of four kittens born in 1962, four babies, I managed to home two of them but unfortunately I had to take the other two back to the RSPCA, I remember walking along with Karen in the push chair, [she hadn't long been born] and sobbing my heart out, I kept them as long as possible, till they around 10 weeks. I had her neutered after that, as I couldn’t bear to go through the pain of taking kittens to God knows what fate. Tibs lived till she was eighteen, unfortunately spending a spell of having to stay out of the home quarters and using the children’s bedroom as Moses wouldn’t tolerate cats, As I mentioned in Moses’ tale, she did outlive him and spent her final days by my side on the sofa. When she was young she was an avid hunter, and was always bringing the remnants of her spoils and laying at the back door. One night she jumped in the bedroom window with a live rat, and we spent some time trying to chase it outside, next morning what was left of it was by the back door. Another time she cornered a rat in the garden, I went for a neighbour to help me get it out, though when I came back Kerry had killed it, Tibs wasn’t daft. I do love cats and would love to have one, but when you add up the cost to wild life, I’ll pass thank you.
