Chippie's page

Now he was a totally different character...
After Jet died in September I wondered if I should get another dog to keep Tango company as he was always used to having more than just him and me.
As I was going through the internet dog re-homing pages I came across this picture of the most adorable pup,

My adorable little Chips

He and his siblings  were rescued from from a puppy farm and taken to the pound where Many Tears rescue in Wales took them on their last day before they were PTS, I contacted them and asked if I could see him, to cut a long story short I travelled to where he was being fostered and picked him up. He was a really beautiful pup, and I called him Chippie,  KC reg. Chips with Everything.
He appeared to be a normal lively pup and very affectionate, then I started to notice he just wouldn't tolerate other dogs getting too familiar with him, and would snap, this got worse till he was just turning on dogs for a full blown attack over what appeared to be nothing. I got into a few disputes over him.
I could possibly have coped had it been confined to outsiders, but he then started attacking Tango, who has the sweetest nature you could find in a dog, to the extent that Tango was reluctant to come into the same room as Chips.
It got worse, he attacked a friends dog when we were staying over and she also witnessed him attacking Tango. Another friend of mine was interested in him and offered to take him on so we agreed, we went for some walks together and Chips went to stay with him and his wife and dogs.
However he apparently had a few issues with his dogs too, and one day I got a phone call to say he'd attacked R....'s dog and when R interfered he got bitten too, it wasn't an attack on him , he just got in the way. So poor Chips went back to Many Tears with the proviso that he be re-homed in a dog free house, which I gather he was., I do hope so.  I was sad to see him go from me and then passed on again, as I was very fond of him, but I was fonder of Tango, it took him some time to get over it.

In happier days

  1. Yes, this could not continue. Poor Tango! Chips was really adorable but that kind of behavior cannot be. Wayyyyy to dangerous to other animals and to people alike. It's a shame, but the right thing was done. Besides, Tango was fabulous!

  2. And I forgot to say that Dave who has the Horace Manure blog just this week had to do the same thing. One of his dogs began attacking the other dogs, then attacked it's own sister, and then started for a person. Dave cried when he took his dog to the shelter, but he, too, knew there was no other option. Animals have no idea what they put us humans through sometimes. Heartbreak.
