In the beginning

.This is my Mum and our two dogs Bruno a German Shepherd and Jaynie a Springer spaniel, this was around 1947;
Back in the mid-sixties, and my family were still quite young,  Arlene was almost two and Karen a twinkle in the eye,
My husband and I came to the South Coast from Scotland in 1960 as work was in short supply, he'd finished his apprenticeship and had to find work.
After a few years I said I would have liked a dog , a GSD.   We had a discussion on it and decided to go for it. As my oldest daughter and I have a birthday just a few days apart, my husband made it a joint birthday present.

Off we went one June day in 1965 to check out some GSD’s that were advertised in the local paper. We had to leave the car and trek across a field of cows till  we came to this run down yard with what looked like pig sties. We were shown a litter of pups with the dam but warned not to touch her as she was a bit possessive, and the dad was ‘elsewhere’ Oh how green we were,  but out tumbled the pups and we couldn't make up our minds at first, till I saw a little one right at the back looking quite forlorn, she was the runt of the litter, but my heart just went out to her. I gathered her up, paid the money,  ten , and the rest is history as you will read in 'Kerry's story'
.
